IT'S TIME TO PLAY BALL!
Spring is finally in the air. The snow is gone, the birds and animals are moving about, and God's beautiful earth is awakening. Ahh the sounds of nature...PLAY BALL! It's time for baseball!
I love baseball. I've enjoyed it from the time my son played t-ball until he received the scholarship to play college baseball. I like baseball because it is a game of individual excellence yet tied directly to working as part of a team. All the parts must work together to put another number in the win column.
Some teams like to rely on the big hits, the homeruns as they fly over the outfield fence. Other teams, many much more successful, play what is know as "small ball" where base hits, base running strategies, bunts, and steals make up the majority of their game. This is my favorite style of baseball, lots of action and strategy making for a winning game.
Some of us are like the homerun hitters in our walk with Jesus. Looking for the "big truth", the bolt of lightning, the answer to life in one big play. The problem is that even the greatest homerun hitters of all-time struck out more often than they hit the big one out of the park. Instead, in the long-run, I think our walk with Jesus is better taken in the "small ball" strategy. One day, one moment at a time. Sharing our faith one on one, serving and loving and building relationships a few at a time. Even our Lord and Savior started with only a 12 man team.
Either way we take our walk with Him, we can't show and spread the Good News until we step up to the plate and take some good swings. And when we finally get on base, remember one thing; you can't steal second with your foot still planted on first base! Grace and Peace be with you!
Remember YOU are loved! Be cool and stay strong! Bald Bob
